Umera Ahmed

Umera Ahmed (Urdu: عمیرہ احمد) is a renowned Pakistani author and screenwriter, celebrated for her profound contributions to Urdu literature and television. Born on December 10, 1976, in Sialkot, Pakistan, she has penned numerous novels and scripts that delve into themes of spirituality, societal norms, and women’s experiences.


Literary and Screenwriting Career

Umera began her writing journey in 1998, with her initial stories appearing in monthly Urdu digests. Her breakout novel, Pir-e-Kamil (The Perfect Mentor), published in 2004, garnered widespread acclaim and solidified her reputation in literary circles. Other notable works include:

Umera holds a Master’s degree in English Literature from Murray College in Sialkot, the alma mater of the esteemed poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal. She initially served as an English teacher at Army Public School in Sialkot, instructing middle and high school students. However, her passion for writing led her to pursue a full-time career in literature and screenwriting.


Personal Life

In 2014, Umera Ahmed married Arsam Aftab. Despite her prominence, she maintains a private personal life and rarely makes public appearances. Her sole on-screen presence was in 2005 when she accepted the Best Writer Award at the Indus Vision Awards.
